AT&TĀ andĀ UberĀ are partnering to make it easier to access Uber accounts. Beginning this summer, all AT&T Android phones will come withĀ the Uber app.

FromĀ Uber’s blog post:

AT&T and Uber have joined forces — and networks — to deliver seamless Uber access to AT&T customers. Starting this summer, the Uber app will begin to be embedded in new AT&T Android phones. Ā AT&T will also be one of Uber’s key providers of new wireless service to drivers on the Uber platform in the United States, supporting Uber’s rapid growth across the country, which currently includes more than 60 U.S. Uber cities.

Uber’sĀ goal is to make sure that anyone can open the Uber app anywhere and be able to connect with a safe, reliable and seamless ride through the Uber app.Ā We are marching toward UberEVERYWHERE, and to do it, we are moving beyond expansion to individual cities and simply toward coverage, maximizing the reachĀ of the Uber network. Today, the Uber platform serves over 137,000,000 Americans (43% of the population in just 4 years) and AT&T will help power UberEVERYWHERE and our continued expansion.

This collaborationĀ brings together the Ā dual strengths—and visions—of both companies: a broad, reliable network and a laser focus on the consumer experience.

ā€œAs AT&T leads the way in mobilizing your world, we constantly look for ways to deliver innovation for our customers, whether inside our company or through another,ā€ said Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO, AT&T Mobility. ā€œWith Uber we found a company that gets what it means to revolutionize an industry through mobile technology to give customers a new, compelling and valuable service and I look forward to what we can achieve together.ā€

This collaboration builds on Uber’s current work with AT&T managingĀ our fast-growing device and data needs for our partner-drivers, who need to rely on a high-speed, strong network connection to keep their businesses running.
