Bookmaker says Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish most likely to die on Game of Thrones

in Sports/Top Headlines by

The seventh season premiere of Game of Thrones is just around the corner, and Irish bookmaker Boylesports has put odds on something most show watchers are wondering about: who will meet their demise this season?

Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish has seen his odds go from 1/6 to 2/7 over in the lead up to the premiere, with even money saying he will be the first major character to die this season.

The longtime King’s Landing adviser has made some big moves in the past few seasons, notably putting all of his – and Sweet Robin’s – chips behind helping Sansa Stark and Jon Snow take back Winterfell from the oh-so-evil Ramsay Bolton.

Now that winter has arrived and he’s stuck in the North with Snow and Co., bettors are thinking his chickens will come home to roost.

Ellaria Sand, who took over Dorne during its brief appearance in last season’s premiere, has 1/7 odds on dying this year, while her odds for exiting first are set at 2/1.

Also popular on the dead pool is newly minted Queen of Westeros Cersei Lannister, who is ruling over the ashes of Kings Landing after her third child, King Tommen, jumped to his death last season.

Boylesports has 5/6 odds on her dying this season, and 8/1 on her dying first. One of her brothers, Jamie Lannister or Tyrion Lannister, could be the one who does her in if the fortune teller from her youth is to be believed. Their chances to die come in at 11/4 and 5/1, respectively.

The Greyjoys, Theon and his Uncle Euron, have 1/4 and 1/5 odds of dying this season, with the Crow’s Eye holding at 6/1 odds for being the first to die. There aren’t any odds on Yara Greyjoy, known as Asha to readers, even though she has much higher ambitions for power than her broken brother.

Interestingly, Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane has 6/1 odds on dying first this season, though some may question if he is truly alive in the first place.

Same with Snow, who has 100/1 odds on dying first and 6/1 on dying at all, though it’s not clear if the death would count if the Lord of Light sees fit to brings him back a second time.

The official HBO trailers point to Berric Dondarrion, who has been resurrected by R’hllor a half dozen times, being in the North with Jon, so chances are good his red priest Thoros is tagging along for ride and ready to resurrect Jon should he die again.

Bettors seem to think Daenerys Targaryen, who will hit the shores of Westeros with three dragons and an army in tow, is relatively safe. The mother of dragons has odds of 8/1 on her death and 100/1 on being the first to go.

The bookmaker also released odds on who will rule Westeros when the dust settles, even though viewers will surely have to wait until the end of season eight to find out.

Dany is deemed the most likely ruler with 15/8 odds, followed by Snow at 2/1 odds.

There aren’t any odds, however, on whether the pair will rule together as an incestuous aunt and nephew duo, as many watchers and readers believe. The relationship is certainly no more taboo than Cersei and Jamie’s, though Lannisters seem to be a little less public than Targaryens about “keeping it in the family.”

The next tier includes wannabe-waterdancer-turned-assassin Arya Stark at 7/1, followed by Tyrion Lannister at 8/1 and Sansa at 10/1. Despite high odds for getting snuffed out this season, Cersei is at 10/1 to rule it all.

Boylesports doesn’t have odds on Bran Stark, who as the eldest remaining son of Ned certainly has the best claim to Winterfell if her were to show up at the castle, nor does it have odds on Robin Arryn.

Though a sickly pushover, the Lord of the Eyrie is a popular choice among book readers due to his large standing army and virtually impenetrable lands which have gone untouched by war throughout the series.

Finally, The Night’s King, the mysterious big bad north of the Wall has 9/1 odds on ruling the whole of the contintent come series end. Seeing how his odds of ruling are higher than some characters odds of dying, one might assume a mass exodus to Essos would be in order if he makes much southward progress.
