FAU humbled by Western Kentucky 52-3

in Sports/Top Headlines by

The Florida Atlantic Owls had a week off to get ready for Western Kentucky. In the end, the Hilltoppers were more than ready as they thumped FAU 52-3 in Boca Raton.

It did not take long for Western Kentucky to take charge in this game. Quarterback Mike White passed for more than 200 yards and three touchdowns in the first half as they took a 24-3 lead at halftime.

White finished with 307 yards and three touchdowns. The Hilltoppers had 657 yards of total offense.

Conversely, FAU could get nothing going offensively and finished with only 202 yards of total offense. Jason Driskel managed only 51 yards passing before giving way to Daniel Parr who fared no better.

The busiest Owl on the day was punter Dalton Schomp, who was called upon to kick the ball away nine times, an unfortunate personal record. Greg Joseph’s 23-yard field goal prevented a shutout.

FAU did not convert a third down until their final drive of the game.

The Owls lost their seventh straight game to fall to 1-7. They are 0-4 in Conference USA’s East Division.

Next week is the battle of the Owls when FAU travels to Houston to take on Rice.
