A Coral Springs company is helping out Florida businesses affected by Hurricane Irma by giving out mobile credit card readers so they can reopen their doors.

First Data, which has offices in New York and Florida, is giving out the wireless payment devices for free and companies do not have to be current clients in order to qualify for the mobile card readers.

The readers work with Apple or Android smartphones and tablets and allows businesses to accept payments whether they are on WiFi or using cellular data. First Data said there would be no setup fees or minimum monthly fees for the readers for the first six months.

“Our clients’ livelihood depends on being able to serve their customers, especially in times of need, and First Data will do whatever we can to support these businesses as they help others recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma,” said First Data CEO Frank Bisignano. “We have all seen the aftermath of these historic storms and we believe it is our duty to try to help our clients, their customers, and local communities recover and rebuild.”4

To qualify for the card readers, a business must be operating in a FEMA Designated Area, which in Florida includes Broward, Charlotte, Clay, Collier, Duval, Flagler, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Putnam, Sarasota and St. Johns counties.

Interested businesses can visit the First Data website for more information on the program or give the company a call at 1-855-401-8152.
