Voters in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll shuffled the deck this week, but the Alabama Crimson Tide is still firmly the top-ranked team in college football. While no teams from Florida are ranked in the top 10, four schools are in the top 25.
Florida State earned the highest rank of the four, coming in at number 12, down one spot from a week ago. The Seminoles, who have not played in two weeks, dropped a spot after their second week off due to Hurricane Irma.
The Miami Hurricanes, who were supposed to play FSU in Tallahassee on Saturday, somehow moved up three spots despite being idle. They earned the No. 14 slot this week after being ranked 17th a week ago.
Florida’s miracle finish against Tennessee on Saturday impressed enough voters to move them from No. 24 to the 20th position this week. The Gators jumped over South Florida, who is ranked No. 21, one spot better than a week ago. The Bulls routed Illinois 47-23 on Friday.
Alabama is the only team in the top 10 who occupied the same position they held a week ago. Clemson at No. 2 traded spots with Oklahoma. Fourth-ranked Penn State swapped positions with Southern California.
Oklahoma State is now ranked No. 6, just ahead of Washington. Three Big 10 teams, Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio State round out the top 10.
The SEC placed 6 teams in the top 25, while the ACC and Pac 12 had five each. The Big 10 placed four teams, the Big 12 had three, followed by the American Conference and Mountain West with one each.
