Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital announced Friday that Sylvia Ameen will serve as the hospital’s new Vice President of Marketing and Communications starting July 1.

Ameen is currently working as All Children’s interim chief marketing officer and has been involved with the hospital and its foundation since 1989, and has handled tasks from managing gift portfolios to board engagement during her tenure. She also directed the $75 million capital campaign for the construction of the new hospital building, which opened in 2010.

“Leading our health care organization into its next phase requires forward-thinking minds who are eager to innovate while always keeping our mission at the forefront,” said Dr. Jonathan Ellen, president and CEO of the Hospital and vice dean at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. “With her many years of leadership, Sylvia is well suited and prepared to communicate the power of our outstanding care and to share the many opportunities for our community to recognize and support that impact.”

Ameen is an alumna of Eckerd University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts, and is also a certified fundraising executive. Throughout her career, she has been active in the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, the St. Petersburg Suncoasters and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay. Most recently, she joined the board of the St. Petersburg Downtown Partnership, which focuses on the city’s economic development.
