Emergency officials in Pinellas County have decided to evacuate coastal areas and mobile homes ahead of Hurricane Irma.

Thursday morning, county commissioners unanimously voted to issue the following evacuation orders:

– Mandatory evacuation for Level A starting 6 a.m. Friday.

– All mobile homes, regardless of evacuation levels.

The massive hurricane is expected to run up the east coast of the state, which would mean tropical storm conditions along the west coast on Sunday.  But the Bay Area remains just inside the cone of uncertainty.

If Irma’s forecasted turn to the north happens later than expected, the situation in the Tampa Bay area and Gulf Coast could be far worse.

Commissioners are still considering evacuations of zones B and C for Saturday.
