Sandy Murman up with first TV ad for re-election campaign

Hillsborough County District 1 Commissioner Sandy Murman has gone up with her first ad of the election cycle.

It’s a light and breezy ad that features a cameo of her grandson, while images of Tampa and Hillsborough County are shown prominently. The ad superimposes the proposals that she is running on for the next four years: fixing roads, preventing floods, lowering taxes and creating jobs.

Murman, a Republican, has served on the board representing District 1 since 2010, when she defeated Democrat John Dingfelder. She’s facing commercial airline pilot Jeff Zampitella on Nov.8.

The Tampa Bay Times has recommended Murman in the race, writing that, “Her practical nature and history of reaching out makes her an appealing choice for both Republicans and Democrats.”

In his letter to the Times in response, Zapitella refers to Murman as a “career politician, focusing on extending her time at the public trough.”
