The Florida Sentinel Bulletin, the bi-weekly paper serving the Tampa Bay area African-American community, has endorsed Sean Shaw’s state House bid.
“The Florida Sentinel has diligently informed our community about politics, local events, and policies impacting the African American community,” Shaw said. “I’m proud that they’ve informed their readers about my dedication to our community and my commitment to positive change in Tampa Bay.”
The Sentinel endorsement follows a number of high profile endorsements for Shaw, including local and county firefighters, police officers, Tampa City Council member Frank Reddick, and state Sen. Arthenia Joyner.
Shaw is running for the House District 61 seat currently held by Ed Narain who is running for the state senate.
Shaw is the son of the late Florida Supreme Court Justice Leander Shaw and the state’s former insurance consumer advocate. He is running against two fellow Democrats, Diane Hart and Walter L. Smith II, in the Aug. 30 primary. District 61 covers Tampa Heights, Seminole Heights and Temple Crest.
