Jeff Moran drops out, backs Ken Sukhia in CD 2

in 2017/Top Headlines by

Republican Jeff Moran dropped out of contention for the 2nd Congressional District primary to succeed U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham Thursday morning, and is throwing his support behind former U.S Attorney Ken Sukhia. Moran’s move cuts the four-way GOP candidate pool down to three, and helps Sukhia consolidate his support in the more populous eastern half of the sprawling eastern Panhandle district. Spending as much time on the campaign trail as I have, you get to know the other candidates pretty well. I’ve gotten to know…

Another day, another position on guns for Darren Soto

in Peter by

At first blush, Sen. Darren Soto joining other Orlando-area lawmakers in calling for a Special Session to implement new restrictions on firearms purchases make perfect sense. After all, he’s a young Democrat from an urban Central Florida district who occasionally makes liberal noises when it comes to LGBT rights, women’s access to heath care, and other relatively safe social issues. So it stands to reason that in the wake of the Pulse nightclub massacre that has left Orlando traumatized and angry, Soto…

in Statewide/Top Headlines by

U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham said she is disappointed in Monday’s district to uphold redrawn U.S. House maps. Court rejects Corrine Brown’s bid to throw out Florida congressional map

in Statewide/Top Headlines by

A panel of federal judges Monday shot down U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown‘s challenge of Florida’s congressional redistricting.
