The infotainment technology that automakers are cramming into the dashboard of new vehicles is making drivers take their eyes off the road and hands off the wheel for dangerously long periods of time, an AAA study says.
As the remnants of Hurricane Irma move out of Florida, work is underway to resupply the state with gasoline, the AAA said Monday. Florida gas prices are averaging $2.72 per gallon today. The state average is 8 cents more than this time last week.
Gas prices “have held relatively steady for the past two weeks, but now face upward pressure,” according to a recent advisory from the AAA. The national average for one gallon of regular unleaded is $2.25—that’s a penny less than a week ago, but three 3 cents more than this time last year, a news release said. Data comes “from credit card swipes and direct feeds from 120,000 gas stations nationwide.”

AAA is giving its coveted five-diamond designation to three Florida restaurants. The travel service group awarded the five-diamond designation on Friday to Palme d’Or at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables; Salt at the Ritz-Carlton in Amelia Island; and Victoria & Albert’s at Walt Disney World. Florida gas prices continued their downward trend Monday, hitting a statewide average of $2.02 a gallon in time for millions of travelers to hit the road for the holidays. The pump price has dropped by a penny from last week’s average, and 45 cents compared with the statewide average one year ago.
