Defensive coordinators game-planning for Florida State are going to have to expand their strategy on containing Dalvin Cook now that the running back has added another element to his game that will add to their headaches. The junior now is a receiving threat out of the backfield. Cook is the first Seminoles running back in nearly 10 years to be coming off a 100-yard receiving game. Offensive line coach Rick Trickett has a bounty of linemen to work with as Florida State goes through preseason practices. Finding the right combination for the Sept. 5 opener in Orlando against Mississippi might be a tougher task. “It is going to be the five guys that work the best together. It won’t always be the five most talented,” Trickett said. “They’re all good guys. I don’t have a problem with any of them. Just are they ready yet?” Besides…

Florida State secondary a confident unit that will be “fine”

in Sports/Top Headlines by

Things are quieter without Jalen Ramsey patrolling the Florida State secondary. That doesn’t mean the unit doesn’t still have plenty of confidence without last season’s boisterous leader. Even with the loss of Ramsey, who is expected to be a top 10 pick in next month’s NFL draft, most of the secondary returns. Last season Florida State was 21st in the nation against the pass, allowing just 191.6 yards per game. “He was one of those guys who let you know…
