Two days after the St. Petersburg City Council passed an ordinance limiting campaign contributions, which is expected to be legally challenged, Council Chair Darden Rice was still exulting. A former president of the League of Women Voters in St. Pete, Rice was an early champion of the just passed measure that will set up limits on contributions to political action committees, essentially abolishing super PACs in local elections. It takes effect in January.
Except for Ed Montanari, the eight-person St. Pete City Council is made up of Democrats. So, it’s not unusual that most of them back fellow Democrat Gina Driscoll in her race against Republican Justin Bean for the St. Pete City Council District 6 race.

Not mentioned at the time was a 2010 resisting arrest charge in Polk County.
