Marion Hammer, the NRA’s longtime lobbyist in Florida, eulogized former Republican state Sen. Greg Evers at his funeral this week. The 62-year-old was killed in a single-car accident near his home in Baker. Evers spent six years in the Florida Senate and a decade in the Florida House.
Former state Sen. Greg Evers died in a car wreck near his northwest Florida home on Monday night. He was 62. The Florida Highway Patrol said that Evers drove off a curve on Griffith Mill Road, and his car was found submerged in a roadside creek Tuesday afternoon. Evers was the only person in the vehicle.
Art Graham and Ronald Brisé on Thursday won nominations to be returned to their seats on the Public Service Commission, which regulates investor-owned utilities in the state. If selected, both men would serve third terms; each was first appointed by Gov. Charlie Crist in 2010.
