State Rep. Dan Raulerson has decided on another term in the Florida House of Representatives. The state’s Division of Elections website shows Raulerson, a Plant City Republican, filed Thursday to run again for his House District 58 seat. If re-elected, it will be Raulerson’s last consecutive term as a state representative: First elected in 2012, he is term limited in 2020. He served as Deputy Majority Whip in 2012-14 and 2014-16. A Tallahassee judge has tossed out a lawsuit over the use of “Wite Out” on state Rep. Dan Raulerson‘s re-election filing paperwork. In an order issued Wednesday, Circuit Judge Charles W. Dodson dropped the case brought by Jose N. Vazquez Figueroa, the Democrat who unsuccessfully challenged Raulerson last year for the House District 58 seat. Dodson ruled he did not have jurisdiction to decide the matter and threw out the suit “with prejudice,” meaning Vazquez can’t refile it. in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

It’s always a bad sign when a judge says he’s “not sure what we’re supposed to be doing.” Leon County Circuit Judge Charles W. Dodson took no action Tuesday in a hearing on a case seeking to disqualify state Rep. Dan Raulerson from running for re-election to his House District 58 seat. His Democratic opponent, Jose N. Vazquez Figueroa, sued because Raulerson’s notary had incorrectly used “correction fluid” on his filing paperwork. But Vazquez, who is representing himself, didn’t make clear the purpose for Tuesday’s…

Early voting begins in House D-58 race

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

From Mitch Perry: Early voting begins today in the House District 58 special election taking place in West Tampa, Seminole Heights, and northwest parts of Hillsborough County. The election is between Democrat Janet Cruz and Republican Hunter Chamberlin, with the winner replacing Democrat Mike Scionti, who stepped down from his seat back in December to take a job with the Obama administration in the Defense Department. Despite the fact that it’s a national holiday, don’t expect a stampede of voters…
