in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

For the third year in a row, the Hillsborough County Metropolitan Planning Organization voted to maintain what is now known as the Tampa Bay Next (TBN) project, despite dozens of citizens who told them that they should remove the plan from the MPO’s Transportation Improvement Project (TIP). Although the controversial Tampa Bay Express (TBX) is gone in name, critics who spoke before the Hillsborough County Metropolitan Planning Organization meeting Tuesday night said its DNA remains throughout its named successor, Tampa Bay…

A crowd of approximately 80 or so citizens met in the V.M. Ybor neighborhood to protest against the proposed $3.3 billion project, which would add tolled express lanes to I-275 in Tampa, as well as parts of I-4 and I-75. The issue has roiled the Seminole Heights, Tampa Heights…

Can FDOT’s TBX be improved? Community meetings begin to attempt to address that

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

Although if it went up for a popular vote in the Seminole Heights, Tampa Heights, V.M Ybor and Ybor City it would probably go down to defeat, there is no indication that the controversial Tampa Bay Express project from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is going to be stopped anytime soon. But when the Hillsborough County Metropolitan Planning Organization voted almost unanimously (despite overwhelming public opposition) in August to accept the TBX as part of their Transportation Improvement Project, they…
