Orange County Commissioner Emily Bonilla sent an email to constituents Wednesday afternoon inaccurately advising them they still could arrange to get rid of big bulk items ahead of Hurricane Irma. The email led Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs to issue a sharp retraction and a rebuke charging Bonilla of overstepping her authority and causing potentially serious problems in a time of emergency.

Several Orlando news outlets are reporting that Orange County Commissioner Mildred Fernandez, who is running for Orange County mayor, was taken to the Orange County Jail Tuesday. Fernandez, 64, was arrested and charged with accepting illegal campaign contributions, grand theft, and bribery. She was released on $5,300 bond around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday. Gov.
