More than 13K early ballots now cast ahead of St. Pete primaries

Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Deborah Clark posted the latest vote-by-mail numbers for St. Petersburg’s Aug. 29 mayoral and City Council District 6 primaries. As of Thursday, of the 66,687 mail ballots sent, nearly 21 percent — 13,552 — have returned. By party, 5,998 Democrats, 5,189 Republicans and 2,365 NPR/other have cast votes. New St. Pete voters face Monday deadline to register for primary election

St. Petersburg residents looking to vote in the Aug. 29 municipal primary election have to be registered to vote by July 31. The Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections issued a deadline reminder Wednesday, and said voter registration applications will be available at any elections supervisor office, public library, tax collector office or government office handling social services. The Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections mailed out ballots for the August 29 municipal primary Tuesday to the more than 64,000 voters who have requested them. On the ballot will be the mayoral primary, featuring Mayor Rick Kriseman, former Mayor Rick Baker as well as Anthony Cates, Paul Congemi, Theresa Lassiter and Jesse Nevel.
