The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have committed $1 million to the American Red Cross in support of relief efforts that are underway in response to Hurricane Irma.

“Hurricane Irma left a path of destruction throughout the entire state of Florida,” Bucs Co-Chairman Bryan Glazer said in a statement. “The long recovery process is already underway and the entire Buccaneer organization stands in support of all those who have been impacted. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected as well as the countless numbers of first responders and everyone who is working so selflessly to keep our community safe.”

The storm has affected the entire state of Florida, with more than 6.7 million people without power as of Monday afternoon, and at least 4 deaths in the state attributed to the hurricane.

The Buccaneers were scheduled to play in Miami on Sunday to kick off the 2017 NFL regular season, but the league announced early last week that the game would not be played there because of concerns about Irma, which originally was forecast to hit the Miami area. After considering relocating the game to Pennsylvania, the NFL opted to reschedule it for November 19.

Both teams had a bye scheduled for that weekend, meaning both teams will play 16 games in a row this season.
