Another sign of a return to normalcy iin the Tampa Bay region post Hurricane Irma’s arrival as a Category 1 storm: The two largest public transit agencies, the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit agency (HART) and the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA), have returned to regular operations.
PSTA officials said Thursday that they have lifted all service restrictions on all 38 of its routes, including two express routes to Hillsborough County. Riders should refer to posted timetables and schedules for individual route information.
“As normal operations begin to resume throughout Pinellas County, the safety and well-being of our riders remain our number one priority,” said PSTA CEO Brad Miller.
HART has also now resumed weekday service, including express routes, though officials note that select trips maybe delayed, due to operator staffing level.
“Thank you to all amazing people who make up our HART staff. Employees worked day and night over the last few days to get people who have been displaced to local shelters in safety and, on the other side, to get our transit services up and running again,” said HART CEO Katharine Eagan. “It was a huge effort and the result of a lot of hard-working employees here.”
