10 Connects: St. Petersburg Times faces backlash over solicitation lawsuit

10 Connects’s Noah Pransky has uncovered a series of emails from angry residents to city leaders and newspaper managers, threatening a boycott of both subscriptions and advertising.

I am canceling my subscription and will not resubscribe until you withdraw your lawsuit challenging the will of the people,” wrote one resident who also threatened a boycott of advertisers.

“Ethically,” wrote another resident who owns a local business, “we find that we cannot support a business thatis costing us all additional money in our City taxes because of the costs involved in fighting this lawsuit.”
