1st DCA schedules arguments for state’s appeal of prison privatization ruling

The First District Court of Appeal has set a June 13 date for oral arguments in the state’s appeal of a prison privatization ruling, according to the Florida Police Benevolent Association. That ruling, by Circuit Judge Jakie Fulford, struck down an privatization plan approved by the Legislature after the the PBA sued to block the initiative. Fulford said lawmakers improperly folded the privatization plan into the fine print of the budget.
