The protests will be at the following locations: Dale Mabry and Waters Avenue, Tampa; US 19 and Ridge Road, New Port Richey; Old Capitol Museum, Tallahassee; Conroy Rd and Vineland RD, Orlando; SR A1A & SR 520, Brevard, Cocoa Beach; Minton Rd & Palm Bay Rd, Palm Bay; Corner of Pine Ridge Road and US4, Naples; Spring Hill Drive and Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill; and A1A and 520 and Eau Gallie and US1, Brevard County.
Several groups are helping to organize the protests. They include Campaign for Liberty, the Libertarian Party of Florida, the Republican Liberty Caucus, Florida Civil Rights Association, the 1787 Radio Network, and several local tea party and 9/12 groups.
Protest organizers want residents to write to their legislators, encouraging them to support State Bill 672 and House Bill 149, which ban the use of red light cameras in Florida.
They point to studies that show that red light cameras increase accidents at intersections. However, what they do not point out is that other studies show that while red light cameras increase fender benders, they decrease fatalities.
The protests start at 5:30 p.m. and run until 7 p.m.
