St. Petersburg City Councilmember Jim Kennedy raised $3,700 since August 23, according to newly released campaign reports. ย That brings his total to $15,500 in contributions for his District 2 re-election campaign.
Environmental activist Lorraine Margeson, had one of the most robust fundraising periods of her campaign, although she only netted about half the amount of her rival โ $1,775 โ for ย $5,505 overall.
Of the 24 donations Kennedy received in the three weeks of the reporting period, only one was for the maximum allowed $500, coming from an investment advisor named Robert Doyle. In the same period, Margeson collected two $500 checks out of 12 separate donations, both from individuals named Risser.
Margeson is also pulling closer to her opponent in cash-on-hand. After spending $577 in the reporting period, for a total of $1,796, she now has a little over $3,700 on hand. Kennedy spent $4,732 in this report, more than eight times Margeson, for an overall total of $10,971. His war chest is just above $4,500.ย
