AG Pam Bondi named one “Top 10 Rising Stars” by WaPo’s The Fix

The Washington Post named Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi one of The Fix’s “Top 10 Rising Stars.”

The list was researched and authored by Sean Sullivan and Aaron Blake, who reveal a “love” of taking future political trends and moving them “four, six, eight or even 10 years away.”

After checking with “smart people who follow politicians closely,” they came up with a variety of names — like Democrat Attorney General Kamala Harris from California and Oklahoma Republican State House Speaker T.W. Shannon — that have become trailblazers in their fields with talent that transcends party lines.

Some of the names are familiar, such as Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, son of Vice-president Joe Biden. The younger Biden served in Iraq, gave a well-received speech at the DNC in 2008 and made a surprising turn in 2010 by declining to run for the U.S. Senate.

In the Republican category, there is George P. Bush, son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. The younger Bush has a Mexican-American bloodline (a real plus for the Republican Party) and is already looking to make a run for Texas land commissioner in 2014.

As for Bondi, she made the list due to her surprising upset of Jeff Kottkamp in 2010 (a sitting lieutenant governor), as well as an endorsement by Sarah Palin in her first campaign. If she wins re-election in 2014, she will be one of only a handful of state Republicans considered a serious contender for statewide office in the next few years.
