Alan Grayson kicking of CD9 congressional campaign in Kissimmee

Former Congressman and current congressional candidate Alan Grayson will officially launch his re-election bid Tuesday evening in downtown Kissimmee, reports Scott Powers of the Orlando Sentinel.

The kickoff will take place at from 6-9 p.m. at his Grayson for Congress Osceola County Headquarters, 104 Church St., in Kissimmee.

Grayson, who served one term from Orlando’s Congressional District 8, now is running in District 9, which includes much of east Orange County, all of Osceola County and part of northeastern Polk County. He is the only Democrat running, though several Republicans and an independent are running. The district leans Democrat, but it also has a sizable Hispanic, primarily Puerto Rican, constituency. Three of the other candidates are Puerto Rican.

Perhaps consequently, Grayson is bringing in Resident Commissioner Pedro Pierluisi (D-PR), Puerto Rico’s representative in Congress, to join him at the campaign kickoff.
