There are some changing tides in the still relatively lackluster race for the Governor’s Mansion.
It was a whole different story in the last survey the newspaper did on this race in March, just after Lakeland state Sen. Paula Dockery announced. Bolstered in our nonscientific poll by urgings on her website, she took 47 percent, leading the pack. Alex Sink finished last among readers back then, with 7 percent of nearly 1,900 responses.
Sink has bounced back strong with the newspaper’s readers, winning this poll and taking 38 percent of the 560 votes cast — far fewer participation than the last survey.
With just 29 percent of the 560 votes cast, Bill McCollum now trails both new arrival Rick Scott and Sink with readers of the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
