From Jeremy Wallace: Sarasota will be at the center of Florida politics this week when most of the major candidates for the U.S. Senate and for governor are scheduled to attend a pair of forums Thursday hosted by the Florida Society of News Editors/Florida Press Association.
When the U.S. Senate candidates face off at the Ritz-Carlton, it will be the first time that all four of the major candidates are together, and the first time Gov. Charlie Crist will have shared a stage with Republican candidate Marco Rubio since Crist dumped his Republican Party registration to run as an independent.
Crist, former House Speaker Rubio and Democrats Kendrick Meek and Jeff Greene have all confirmed they will attend the forum, which is part of the news associations’ annual convention. Continue reading here.
