Six Florida congressional candidates make up a million-dollar club, with at least that much cash on hand at the end of the most recent campaign-finance reporting period according to the News Service of Florida.

U.S. Rep. Allen West, a Republican popular in national conservative circles, had nearly $3.2 million cash in his campaign coffers as of July 25. West is fighting to stay in Washington after being moved to a new district following the once-a-decade reapportionment process.

Incumbents Cliff Stearns, a Republican, and Democrat Debbie Wasserman Schultz followed with $2.1 million and $2 million respectively, as many candidates head into primaries Aug. 14 while others await the general election on Nov. 6.

Congressional candidates faced a Thursday night deadline to report contributions and expenditures between July 1 and July 25. The next reporting period for congressional races runs through Oct. 17. Those reports are due Oct. 25, 12 days before the general election.

The top two non-incumbents are Democrat Alan Grayson, with $1.2 million cash on hand, and Republican Adam Hasner, who had $1.1 million left as he prepares to face either West Palm Beach Democrat Lois Frankel or Broward County Democrat Kristin Jacobs in November.
