A new drinking hub in downtown St. Pete that just opened in January is already facing closure. Alvin’s Lounge on First Avenue North near Beach Drive reportedly hasn’t been paying its rent.
Its landlord has filed paperwork in Pinellas County Court seeking to have the owners evicted.
The suit goes back to 2013 when the company Starlife Foods signed a five-year lease with STP Development for its business, DeLucia Italian Bakery Café. That eatery closed and in November of last year Starlife sub-let the space to Alvin Holdings – the LLC doing business of Alvin’s Lounge.
STP issued a three-day notice to Alvin’s to either pay up or get out. The $22,000 Alvin’s reportedly owes has not been paid so STP is trying to have them evicted.
Alvin’s isn’t the only defendant listed on the case. STP is also suing Starlife Food, Raffaele Pagnotta, Luigi DeLucia, Bito Capobianco, Robert Pepe and Elvira Pagnotta.
Alvin’s served as a “sophisticated drinking hub” according to a Creative Loafing rundown. It offered live music, including a Latin-themed night and a piano bar on Thursdays.
The spot also played contemporary jazz and hosted karaoke.
