Americans for Prosperity—Florida is out with a new advertisement taking aim at sports incentives.

The digital advertisement ad campaign calls on Floridians to call on their elected officials to oppose efforts to give incentives to sports teams. The digital ad campaign is scheduled to run through Super Bowl Sunday.

“As wealthy team owners and NFL executives gather around San Francisco for the Superbowl this weekend, Florida taxpayers are hurting because some politicians would rather help billionaire football team owners than make sure our state’s real needs are met,” said Chris Hudson, state director of . “The Buccaneers, Jaguars, and Dolphins are all guilty of roughing the taxpayer and exploiting our elected officials to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars, just to enrich themselves and their investors.”

The state’s Department of Economic Opportunity this week said three applicants were eligible for state dollars to help improve stadiums and other facilities. The city of Jacksonville, the Daytona International Speedway and the South Florida Stadium LLC. were all deemed eligible.

Lawmakers still must approve the requests.

“This year, we hope lawmakers will make another goal-line stand against the billionaire sports owners who keep trying to intercept valuable resources that belong to the state’s real superstars, the hardworking taxpayers of Florida,” said Hudson.
