Another casualty of Qualifying Week: Dawn Thompson drops out of race for House District 51

You really have to give it to a candidate whose entire basis for running is that she looks like a bad knockoff of Sarah Palin,  But that’s really all Republican Dawn Thompson had to offer and offer it she did.  The first time I met her — I think it was the night of the City of St. Petersburg  city elections — Thompson tagged along with a group of us enjoying a drink or two at the St. Pete Yacht Club.

Thompson stood out that night, not only because she bore some resemblance to Palin, but because she did not appear to have on any underwear despite wearing white pants.  So, in addition to meeting Thompson, I also met her cameltoe, which was protruding  from her silky pants.

Needless to say, that’s when I knew Dawn Thompson was not exactly a serious candidate for elected office. She announced last night at the Pinellas County Republican Executive Committee that she was withdrawing from the race for House District 51.
