Kevin Tracy has one of the best designed blogs around: I’ve been complaining about the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) for a long time, but their early endorsement of Charlie Crist is a new low for this organization that seems to be sending more money to liberal politicians than their Democratic counterparts.
The only, and I mean the ONLY defense of Governor Crist of Florida is that he’s cut taxes. The Club for Greed should be thrilled. Or should they? When Governor Jeb Bush (R) left office, he set in motion a lot of government reforms to promote the privatization of state services to save money and additional jobs. Upon taking office, Crist rolled back those reforms and more, increasing the size of state government.
Additionally, Governor Crist is a well known radical environmentalist, citing Global Warming as our biggest threat and promoting excessive and oppressive environmental laws to crush industry and business, destroy jobs, and everything that comes with it.
But Wait, there’s more! There always is. Governor Crist has also said that he supports and will continue to support the Obama Stimulus package and would vote with Democrats on economic issues.
Apparently, Governor Crist seems to think that there’s another vacancy in the United State Senate Republican Caucus for a flaming liberal Democrat because Arlen Specter just vacated his position. Well, Governor Crist, the corrupt, valueless NRSC does not speak for we conservatives! Not in Florida, not in any other state of the Union.
The NRSC endorsement of Crist is so outrageous not only because of Crist’s promises to abandon his party on virtually every important vote that may come up, but because Crist isn’t unopposed in the primary either. Marco Rubio, who has had a long and very successful record in the State Legislature as an unwavering conservative, is running for Governor as well. Yet despite there being two qualified candidates in the running for United States Senate in Florida, the NRSC has taken it upon themselves to endorse and begin heavily funding one of the candidates, MORE THAN A YEAR BEFORE THE PRIMARY!
What’s equally disgusting is that this is being done without a single peep from the Republican National Committee, which is what we were told Michael Steele was going to change.
Michael Steele is FAILING us as the leader of the Republican Party. Senator Cornyn is either intentionally undermining the conservative cause or a spineless front man who is unable to say no to the party elitists who are pulling his strings.
I am absolutely ASHAMED to call myself a Republican right now.
