On the second anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, March 23, 2012, representatives from Protect Your Care and Planned Parenthood fired back at the erroneous statements made by the Pro-Life Action League rally in St. Pete today regarding the Affordable Care Act.

“These rallies are being led by extremist groups far outside the mainstream and who have a long history of attacking birth control,” said Wendy Grassi, Director of Public Affairs at Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida.
Grassi cited recent polls that support:
  • 77 percent agree birth control should not be part of the national policy debate
  • 61 percent say insurance companies should cover the full cost of birth control
  • 57 person think religiously affiliated hospitals should cover contraception at no cost
Darden Rice, Florida Communications Director of Protect Your Care said, “There is widespread public support for birth control and for the President’s announcement that ensures women have access to birth control with no costly co-pays, regardless of where they work.”
