It’s not quite as funny as censoring the Count in this Sesame Street “counting” song that makes it sound dirty instead of sounding like the innocent learning ditty that it really is.
But this Sesame Street take on House of Cards is pretty epic, whether you’re a fan or not.
The House of Bricks parody of the scandalous political drama takes the timeless story of the Three Little Pigs by portraying Frank Underwood as the Big Bad Wolf, Frank Underwolf.
True to the fable, Frank Underwolf sets down the road blowing down houses, beginning with the weakest of the three made of straw.
“This is almost going to be too easy,” Frank Underwolf says to the camera and audience in his sly Southern accent.
As the straw house goes tumbling to the ground, animated straw flying about, Underwolf says, very F.U.esque, “Some people say there is too much pork in this town. I could not agree more.”
He points out that he’s after the White Brick House, the “strongest of them all” and that “these others are just in my way.” It’s reminiscent of Frank Underwood’s blatant disregard for any shred of human decency, or, you know, the law in his quest to assume the presidency, which (Spoiler Alert!) he does.
Unlike the real House of Cards, the House of Bricks doesn’t contain conflicting interests filled with fornication, deception and murder — just blowing down houses with pigs in them.
As Frank Underwolf approaches the second house, the one made of sticks, he proceeds to teach a lesson, 3 take away 1 equals 2. There are even red lines depicting the nice little subtraction word problem.
After blowing down the second house and sending that pig scurrying, Underwolf sets his sights on the White House of Bricks.
“Let’s not make this harder than it has to be,” Underwolf says to the pigs. Instead of letting him try hopelessly to blow down their house, the pigs just run away leaving Frank Underwolf satisfied.
“Sometimes to get what you want you’ve got to be a bit of a blowhard,” he says.
But when Underwolf blows the house down it turns out not to be made of bricks at all. Instead, it was made of, what else, cards.
“Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose and this time the cards were stacked against me,” Underwolf says in the puntastic voice of Kevin Spacey’s trademark character.
But the short parody ends on something we’ve all thought and chuckled about.
“Hey, who are you talking to anyway?” one of the pigs asks.
Season 3 of the real House of Cards is to be released Friday on Netflix. Fans everywhere are expected to binge watch the entire season over the weekend.
An earlier trailer of the new season shows Frank and his wife, Claire, entering their new home in the White House. Fans are chomping at the bit to get a glimpse of what kind of evil will lurk in Frank’s power as the new leader of the free world.
