At RNC, Facebook and Twitter working ‘so happy together’

Coke and Pepsi would never do it, nor would Apple and Microsoft. But at the RNC, the rival social media firms share a workspace at the Tampa Bay Convention Center. Their logos appear on the same big sign looming over a flat screen and a set of couches where they expect to welcome members of Congress and other luminaries.

It made sense because the companies figured that the same people would want to visit with both Facebook and Twitter, so why not make it easy for them? “We don’t hate each other at all,” said Twitter spokesman Adam Sharp.

“One of the great things about our two companies is that one of us doesn’t have to lose users for the other to gain them. And we both have the same mission, and that is opening new avenues of communication between elected officials and their constituents.”
