Pam Bondi calls for debate against opponent George Sheldon

Attorney General Pam Bondi wasted no time in challenging her General Election opponent to a debate.

Bondi made the call after congratulating Democrat George Sheldon on his commanding 62-38 percent win over Perry Thurston in Tuesday’s primary.

The voters will have a clear choice between candidates in this election, and they deserve to hear directly from us on the distinct difference in visions and leadership that each candidate will offer to the Attorney General’s Office. This can be accomplished through thoughtful and respectful dialogue worthy of our great State,” Bondi wrote in a press release.

Bondi has been endorsed by the Florida Police Chiefs Association, Florida Police Benevolent Association, Florida State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police, Florida Professional Firefighters, Florida Medical Association, Florida Chamber of Commerce, National Federation of Independent Business/Florida, Florida Home Builders Association, and the Associated Industries of Florida.

She boasts her work in reigning in Florida’s massive pill mill industry. Bondi has also fought back against repeated attempts to overturn the state’s constitutional ban on gay marriage and has opposed efforts to legalize marijuana for medical use, a measure that will appear as an amendment on the November ballot with her and Sheldon.

Sheldon supports both same-sex marriage and the marijuana measure, Amendment 2.
