Based on the details included in the article, Austin's decision to wait for the police in his back yard with a 9 mm handgun he has in his possession for the confrontation that he wanted to have with the police that was confirmed with his statement to the police of "kill me" after the police were involved in an exchange of shots being fired between Austin and the police in back yard of the house Austin lived at with his family, the past issues and the need that arose a few years prior to have Austin taken from his parents home under the Baker Act in an attempt to get Austin the mental help that he needed and had to be documented to the Court System before he taken to a Mental Health Facility in an attempt and hope that this would be helpful for this young individual and with the prior issues that the police had become involved with during the past 2-3 year timeframe as a result of the actions and concerns that were involved with Austin's well being and those individuals well being he was and could interact, I have to seriously question the action taken by the police of killing this young man. This to me was a tragedy that the police couldn't or didn't do anything more than take this boy out, a confrontation of trained professional law enforcement officers against an 18 year old teenager who needed a lot of help didn't stand a chance against these officers who in my opinion could of or at least should of employed completely different tactics of securing the area where Austin was at to make sure no one got hurt or killed, try to get Austin to surrender or possibly try to wound him so he couldn't continue to shoot his hand gun. I hate the fact that a courageous law enforcement officer was killed by Austin this is tragic and senseless but in consideration to the known facts, Austin needs help and his act was wrong but I believe in some way it was out of his control if there are serious mental issues that are affecting and possibly "controlling" his thought process and decisions. I am by no means a qualified mental health expert and this tragic was only compounded by Austin being killed after he killed a police officer senselessly. The last issue that I wanted to address, every time a law enforcement officer is killed there is no middle ground involved within the "law enforcement community" and the only acceptable result is an "eye for an eye" and anything less than this form of justice is not an option or an end result, justice will prevail and there are no rules at this point the sob is going to be hunted down and they will be dealt with to right the wrong. God bless the individuals and families that have suffered the lost of a loved one, may the strength and peace of the Lord come into your heart and life and that your thoughts will be on the positive and loving memories you have enjoyed and shared with the love you who has been taken from you so unexpected.
