Pinellas cops carry torch for Special Olympics Florida

Law enforcement officers from across Pinellas spent much of Wednesday morning carrying a torch across the county as part of the annual Torch Run for Special Olympics Florida. They began in St. Petersburg with about 40 officers, said Sgt. Spencer Gross, spokesman for the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. By the end of the 23-mile journey at Paul B. Pinellas Commission to sell 67 lots for affordable housing

Pinellas County commissioners agreed Tuesday to sell 67 parcels of vacant land to build affordable housing. Six of the parcels would be donated to Habitat for Humanity. Nine would be immediately put up for bid to be developed into single-family homes, Pinellas County Administrator Mark Woodard said. The remaining 52 lots would be sold later this year.
