Pinellas Clerk of Courts Ken Burke officially running for fourth term

Ken Burke has legitimized his run for a fourth term as Pinellas County’s Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. The 55-year-old Republican from Seminole filed all the necessary paperwork on Monday to make the run official. He’s been serving as Pinellas’ Clerk of Court since 2004. Pinellas tourist development tax on its way up to 6 percent

For the first time in roughly 10 years, Pinellas County will be raising its 5 percent tourist development tax (TDT). The increase, which is expected to be approved by the Board of County Commissioners after a public hearing at their Aug. 4 regular meeting, will bring the TDT to 6 percent, and go into effect on Jan. 1, 2016. The reflection of a county-run wage theft recovery program is beginning to twinkle in the collective eye of Pinellas County’s Board of Commissioners. The seven-member group gave staff the go-ahead to develop the program’s criteria at its July 30 work session. St. Petersburg College is about ready to show off its new addition. This Saturday, SPC  will  celebrate the opening of a revamped Midtown Center with a block party and ribbon cutting.
