Pinellas Property Appraiser candidate Jim Frishe still no match for opponent Mike Twitty in fundraising department

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

Pinellas Property Appraiser candidate Mike Twitty is still handling his lone opponent Jim Frishe quite easily in the fundraising department. In total, and according to the most recent finance reports from the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections, Twitty has raised over $114,000 for his cause, while Frishe has brought in around $40,000. Lopsided, indeed. And things have been that way since Twitty first entered the race back in August of 2015, when the 48-year-old Republican netted over $50,000 in campaign donations for…

Wengay Newton didn’t shy away from discussing his Tallahassee plans during an April 12 reception for his House District 70 campaign. “I want to try and promote good legislation,” the former St. Petersburg City Councilman said in his opening remarks. “And any bad legislation, I want to try and get that amended.” From there he went into specifics, first touching on what he sees as an outdated dollar amount assigned to Florida’s felony grand theft law. As state law now stands,…

New survey shows most residents love Pinellas County

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

Things are looking pretty bright in Pinellas, and residents seem to be noticing. A new citizen values survey presented to the Board of County Commissioners Tuesday morning showed — among other things — that 9 out of 10 people recommend Pinellas as a place to live, work, raise children and retire. “I love the smell of data in the morning,” said Commissioner Ken Welch. To break those figures down even further, 94 percent of those polled recommended Pinellas as a good place to…

According to the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections, Mikurak — who has been campaigning for the District 3 seat since last September — has raised exactly $80,805. While Justice, who didn’t formally file to run until a month after his opponent, has brought in approximately $40,357. However, recent figures from each camp show a much closer race.…

Charlie Justice highlights strong Hillsborough-Pinellas relationship during Tampa campaign stop

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

“By joining together, we can be more effective,” said Pinellas County Commission Chairman Charlie Justice at a Tampa fundraiser for his re-election campaign. Justice has been on the trail since last October, so far drawing one competitor, the well-funded Republican Mike Mikurak. But Thursday night, at Southern Strategy Group’s Tampa Bay office, Justice’s message wasn’t focused on competition, but cooperation between local governments — an issue which Justice believes Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties have recently excelled at. “Over the last year,…
