Florida’s lawsuit climate hit an all-time low, sinking to number 44 out of the 50 states according to a national survey released Wednesday by the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform. The number 44 ranking is a dip from Florida’s number 41 ranking last year and continues a downward trend from the state’s number 33 ranking when the poll began in 2002. Delaware took the top spot in the ranking, with Vermont and Nebraska close behind. According to ILR, the…

A fundraiser benefiting Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush has been set for October 9 in Tallahassee, though attendees will have to settle for shaking hands with Jeb Bush Jr. at the $2,700-a-person event. The fundraiser, timed to align with the end of an interim committee week, is billed as a “Mission: Next” event, which is a group co-chaired by Jeb Bush Jr. and his brother, George P. Kristin Jacobs files for re-election in HD 96

in Statewide/Top Headlines by

Freshman Democratic state Rep. Kristin Jacobs filed paperwork to run for re-election in House District 96 Tuesday, making her the first and only candidate for the Broward County seat. The Coconut Creek Democrat is unlikely to draw any in-party competition, and with the district’s heavy Democratic tilt, she doesn’t need to worry about a GOP threat, either. The 2014…

The gulf is wider still in Southern states, where 90 percent of blacks say there is unfair treatment compared to 55 percent of whites.…
