Jesse Jackson makes GOTV push in Northwest Jacksonville

in 2017 by

In Jacksonville near the Legends Community Center on Saturday afternoon, Rev. Jesse Jackson delivered an urgent message to around 50 Democrats on hand. Vote this year. And avoid what happened in 2000, when “the loser was the winner” because of “voter suppression.” Jackson, in extemporaneous remarks designed to “remind allies to not surrender,” described a couple of elections decided by seemingly small, yet ultimately fateful, events. Jackson described the 1960 election between John Kennedy and Richard Nixon as one example. “Dr. King was…

The talk coming from the Florida Times-Union newsroom is being confirmed by First Coast News: Jacksonville’s daily paper will endorse Donald Trump this weekend. Sources tell FCN — and have told FloridaPolitics.com independently — the endorsement is a “a top-down directive from Morris [Communications],” the parent company of the Florida Times-Union. T-U editor Frank Denton confirmed the endorsement in an email: “Yes, the endorsement will be published Sunday. Will…

Illustrating this phenomenon is sunrise in Jacksonville, where a couple hundred Trump supporters queued up ahead of a rally set to start at noon. The earliest showed up hours before dawn. And…

New Florida polls show momentum for Donald Trump, trouble for Hillary Clinton

in 2017 by

Two polls released Sunday show that there is a very good chance that Florida could choose Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton on Election Day. A NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll of 990 likely voters, conducted Oct. 25 – 26, shows Clinton up by just one point over Trump. Clinton comes in with 45 percent, while Trump gets 44 percent. Third party candidates lag in the low single digits: Libertarian Gary Johnson garners 5 percent; the Green Party’s Jill Stein gets her customary 2…
