Spurrier, the coach at South Carolina, has come out in favor of the removal of the Confederate flag from the grounds of South Carolina’s state Capitol in Columbia. A day earlier, Spurrier’s supervisor, athletic director Ray Tanner, had come out in favor of the removal. “The South Carolina football team, players and coaches…

Are you ready for the Tim Tebow debate once again?

in Sports/Top Headlines by

The debate is fresh again. The voices are as loud as ever. The sides are distinct. In the middle, there is Tim Tebow, good guy, potential quarterback. And noise. He is perhaps the loudest debate in the history of the league. One side points out that his passes wobble. The other side points out that his intangibles do not. Toronto broke open a 3-3 game with four runs in the sixth inning. For the Rays, one of the strangest plays of the night came when…

That’s the rotation? That’s what’s keeping this team atop the American…

Colome gave up only an infield single to Michael Bourn in his seven innings. Kevin Jepson took the loss for Tampa Bay, giving up a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to David Murphy. Roberto Perez scored the winning run, sliding in…

Evan Longoria’s homer, pitching leads Rays’ to 10 over

in Sports/Top Headlines by

Sometimes, it takes a village. Six pitchers combined for the latest victory by the red-hot Tampa Bay Rays, a 4-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians. It was the 40th win in 70 games for the Rays, who hold a one-game lead in the AL East. Erasmus Rameriz started for the Rays but had to leave in the fourth inning with a groin injury. Five Rays’ relievers gave up only one runs the rest of the way. Tampa Bay got all…
