The term for state senators would be increased from four years to six years and state House terms from two years to four years, while the term limit would be 12, instead of eight years, under a proposed constitutional amendment proposed this week in the Legislature, reports the News Service of Florida. The proposed amendment (SJR 190), which would have to be approved by voters if it passes by three-fifths in each chamber, was filed Thursday by Sen. Mike Bennett, R-Bradenton. An identical proposal (HJR 21) was filed in the House in June by Rep. Rick Kriseman, D-St. Petersburg.
