Jamie Bennett’s mayoral campaign took in more than $30,000 in cash and in-kind contributions during the most recent quarter of the fundraising calendar. The period began with Bennett’s formal entrance into the race on January 16 and ended on March 31. According to treasurer Bill Boots, who is finalizing the report, we raised $30,918.47 in cash and in-kind contributions.

“Our fundraising effort demonstrates the viability of my campaign,” Bennett said. “Along with being the first candidate to collect the 1,000 signatures to get on the ballot, with being the most active and organized campaign, with being at the forefront of the most important issues, this effort clearly indicates that I am in it to win it.”
Bennett’s fundraising total has already surpassed the amount he had raised for any of his previous campaigns.

“I am very proud of the fundraising effort my campaign has put forth,” Bennett said. “We are not blessed with connections to special interests. Instead, we are fortunate to have a broad network of those concerned about a better St. Petersburg. And those are the people who wrote $10, $20 and $50 checks to my campaign.”

Among Bennett’s 199 contributors are Ken Welch, Ed Ameen, Jack Bodziak, Dan Harvey, Charlie Harris, Bob Devin Jones, Bob Jeffrey, Martha Lenderman, Will Michaels, Laurie MacDonald, Don Mastry, Ron Methot, Darden Rice, Craig Sher, Sarah Snyder, Dr. Fadi Saba and Jack Tunstill.

Bennett will file a complete report with the City Clerk’s office by April 10.
