Former President Bill Clinton will visit Tampa on Sunday to campaign for Democratic candidate Charlie Crist.
Arguably the biggest name in Democratic politics, Clinton takes up the banner for Crist as the Florida gubernatorial race enters its last ten days. With early voting under way statewide, every little bit of support will help, since polling steadily shows former Gov. Crist and incumbent Republican Gov. Rick Scott locked in a virtual tie.
Although Crist has not exactly ignored the Tampa Bay area, the Republican-turned-Democrat has not campaigned the state as extensively as his GOP opponent, choosing instead to focus primarily on Democratic strongholds in South Florida.
Scott, on the other hand, has taken a broader campaign approach, crossing the state several times since end of the Legislative session in May. With a different campaign theme each week, Scott also uses his private jet to visit different media markets, sometimes several in a day. Currently, both current and former governors are touring to push early voting efforts.
Details of Sunday Clinton event will be provided with RSVPs, which are available here or by contacting Stephanie McClung at [email protected] or calling (727) 204-0385.
