Bill Day marks Memorial Day with “War Wounds”

For Memorial Day, Bill Day honors those who served  with “War Wounds,” aiming his pen at the problems within the Department of Veterans Affairs, where officials face allegations of significant shortcomings within the VA medical care system.

Several veterans injured in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan had waited for months to be seen by VA doctors, despite a directive that they were to be given top priority. It was found that as many as 26 VA  facilities may have been using fraudulent patient accounting systems with “secret” waiting lists, resulting in the death of dozens of veterans from delayed care.
