St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster waded back into local politics for the first time since his election, announcing his endorsement of Jack Latvala for the Florida Senate, District 16 in the 2010 election.

“Jack Latvala has valuable experience that will benefit our region in Tallahassee. He accomplished many things for the Tampa Bay area and the state as a whole when he served in the Senate from 1994-2002. He was the driving force to end the water wars in the Tampa Bay area, he was a champion for taxpayers, consumers and the environment, and he delivered results for the communities he represented,” Mayor Foster said.

“I believe Jack Latvala will be an effective representative for St. Petersburg in the Florida Senate and I look forward to helping him get elected and to working with him after he is elected on behalf of our mutual constituents in St. Petersburg,” Foster added.
