For reasons beyond me, former USF dean Bill Heller intends to file today or tomorrow to run for House District 52, challenging established front-runner Liz McCallum for the Democratic nomination.
Someone please tell me how a 70-year-old man is going to outwork the GOP candidate? How is Heller going to walk door-to-door in August? Why do we want someone in office who will be 78 at the end of his possible term?
Of course, Heller’s candidacy is being egged on by the same faction that has lost race after race in Pinellas County. In fact, Janet Long, once a dear friend but is now someone whose judgment I am beginning to question, announced Heller’s impending candidacy. Janet, why were you Bill Heller’s proxy last night?
Memo to Janet Long. You will not — repeat will not — win your seat if you continue to listen to the people you are listening to! Yes, I am talking about Kevin King. He has never won a major race, and with the advice he is giving to you, I can fully see why.
Heller’s candidacy and Kevin King’s presence are but the latest two examples of how Democrats never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
